Joys and Pains

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

I’m pretty out of it today. I got like no sleep last night. For a perfectly good reason! I managed to up my WIP count by like 6k! *does happy dance* It was just one of those nights where I knew so clearly in my head where it was going. I love nights like that. But they really do a number on my sleep patterns. Not to mention I had to be at the store to open today at 7am. *faints* Not good.

I managed, though. With a decent mood, to boot. Ha ha. Either way, I’m now more than halfway through my futuristic scifi romance! WOOHOO! Now if I can only get past my ‘plot climax anxiety’ I might be able to actually finish this thing.
;)

Happy *late* hump day to all!

Know When to Fold Them

Friday, February 8th, 2008

I’ve been working on some rewrites/edits for about two days on my lighthearted murder mystery. I managed to get the first chapter in some semblance of order, unfortunately, chapter two proved much more difficult. So much so in fact, that I still dread looking at it.So I’ve given myself permission to work on another project. Not any of the other important WIPs that I have going on (I know, really?) but an old piece that I planned to rework and rewrite one day. I started it a while ago, really liked it, and vowed to return. Of course I got sidetracked, but now, with a little time and creativity on my hands, I’ve gotten straight through 6 chapters. :D I really love the story. I’m hoping that the reprieve from my edits/rewrites, will give me some time to ponder it all, to really get my creative thoughts in order.

How about you? What are you working on? What do you do when you get stuck or feel like you’ve just had enough? Do you take a break? Read? Write? Watch a movie? Share!

Snowed In

Monday, December 17th, 2007

What a relaxing Sunday. After last night’s nor-easter which really became more of a snow/sleet storm, hubby and I spent the day at home. I was able to *gasp* sleep in until nearly 1:30pm. Ha ha. I’m such a lazy bum, I know. But I feel so much better after sleeping.

Then again, last night I went to bed ridiculously late trying to work on my WIP for Freya’s. It’s probably why I needed that much sleep. It’s coming along. I’m currently at 33k. However, it’s being stubborn. It’s so close to completion but it never gets there. I feel like it’s dragging, which in turn is making me crazy. I’m desperate to finish. The deadline is looming and I feel like I’m drowning the closer I get to it. *sigh* I hope I get this done in time.  I’ve been killing myself trying to work on it.

It’s already getting late tonight and I’m going to have to wake up early for work tomorrow. But I figured I’d come in here and say hello to everyone. Hope you all had a great weekend.

Fleeting Thoughts

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

You know, during the day while I’m at work, I think up these ridiculous, rather humorous blog posts. Random things, really. Mutterings about people being swipe-happy (I don’t know why this irks me so much, it’s not that big a deal). Jokes about some of the people I watch in the cafe. Deep, life-altering theories on life that I have during bake time. Just about anything and everything.

By the time I get home though, well most of the things are long gone from my mind. They sort of fade with the wind as soon as I push past the doors. I swear, I’m going to bring a journal with me and just write them down so that I can prove to you guys that I don’t just disappear. I really think about you all quite often. I just happen to crash most days when I get back in. And if I’m not crashed on the couch with a book (or snoring) I’m trying to catch up on NaNoWriMo (which of course, I’ve fallen  behind on).

Yesterday, however, was just one of those days when no matter how well intentioned I felt, fate had other plans for me. I think it was trying to tell me to slow down. I’ve been running ragged since Friday. My energy level has had to stay up all the time, which means, I’m bound to crash. And it’s a long, slow fall to the bottom. Yesterday morning began with me late to work. Ended up with a flat tire in the pouring rain. Had to wait for AAA to come change it. I’ve decided I want to learn to change tires. As a self-sufficient girl, it makes no sense to have to wait for someone else to do it for me. That training begins ASAP.

Then, at work, we had two new trainees. Now, I’ve been there a little over a month now. I know my way pretty well (though I still stumble like a doofus every once in a while). Still, nothing could prepare me for training. While explaining things I’ve just started to do second nature, I realized just how absolutely inept I really am. That was a fun realization *note the sarcasm* ;)

By the time I got home, I felt beat. I sat down to read New Moon by Stephenie Meyers.  Yes, I’m already on New Moon. Well, I was. I finished it last night. I’m off to get Eclipse today. (This series is ridiculously amazing. Just when I think it can’t get better, Ms. Meyers manages to up the ante. The first few chapters of New Moon had me literally clutching my chest in agony. I absolutely LOVE that. *shakes head* What a masochist.)

That’s another thing I realized. Man, I devour books. I go through them as though I were starving for the next word, unable to stop once I’ve started. It’s never soon enough. And once I’ve finished, I peruse back through to reread my favorite parts nearly right away. I’m starting to feel like Augustus Gloup. :D Remember him?! Ha ha. Greedy little bugger.

Ok, now I swear there was a point to this post. Oh yes! Cinematic Royalty has been reviewed again! :D YAY!!! *does happy dance* Coffee Time Romance has been kind enough to review it, and here’s a little something from what they had to say…

Ms. Isabelle Santiago has written a moving chronicle of an actress’s life and the hidden secrets that haunt those in public life. [...] This story had me crying for both characters and any romance reader would too. Great Ending!

:D If you want to read the whole thing, just go here: http://www.coffeetimeromance.com/BookReviews/Cinematicroyalty.html

Anyway, now that I’m done babbling like three days worth of stuff, let me go make my blog rounds real quick before I rush back off to work. Maybe I will take my journal today. :-P

What Day is It?

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

How it already the 4th? Wow. That happened fast.

So, my weekend. A bit on the hectic side, really. Let’s see. Started with a good work day Friday. I was controlled, well put together. And then… BAM! My phone falls from my pocket and shatters never to turn on again. Wouldn’t be a big issue except, I don’t have a house phone because I have my cell phone. Which suddenly means, I have NO contact to the outside world.

Do you have any idea how terrifying that thought was? I panicked! I called hubby from work and was like, “I HAVE to get a new phone tonight! What will I do without my phone?!” We went to the T-Mobile store. Of course, I wasn’t due for a new phone and I didn’t have insurance. Guess the phone would have to wait until I balanced my check book. *sigh*

Saturday morning, after some time with my beloved cousins (who are all insane, but so funny), I decided I might as well spend the money. I needed the phone. It’s not like I’m splurging. So I got a new one. And I have to say, despite being upset about my old phone and everything I lost… this new one… well it kind of rocks. :D

Isn’t it cute? I did get the lilac one. But it also comes in red, black and grey, I believe.

So anyway, other than that. I went to my friend’s wedding last night. It was lovely. She looked absolutely beautiful and radiant and I had a good time sitting at the guest table with a few people I knew. Overall, it was a nice night, if not a little exhausting. Dancing, drinks and food tend to do that.

Even so, I came home and tried to write, so I don’t fall behind on NaNo, you know? I got some done. Not nearly as much as I’d liked to have done. But I was tired and under alcoholic influence. My head just was NOT into it.

On the huge plus side, I started a book this weekend and now plan to go and purchase the other two of the series. Twilight by Stephanie Meyers. Amazing. Simply amazing. Not only is the narrator, Bella, smart, witty and very observant, but the chemistry between her and Edward is stunning. The explosive, dangerous nature of their relationship literally made my heart beat faster. As much as I tried to fight this trend, I have to say, I’m so glad I read it. This vamp-YA-series kicks butt. I’m hungry for New Moon already. It’ll be the first thing I do at lunch tomorrow. :D I’m so glad I work in a bookstore. Ha ha

I’m also considering a contest for my book, Cinematic Royalty! I’d really like to give away a free copy. But I have to think up a fun event for us to play. Hmm… let me dwell on it. I’ll get back to you!

Hope you’ve all had a great weekend!
